The Institute operates three scopes of work – the Next Generation of Abortion Providers Program, Patient Assistance Programs like our Long-Term Birth Control Program, and Community Education and Engagement (our Birth Justice initiatives are housed here).
Alarming Times
Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June, 13 states have outlawed abortion with few or no exceptions. More states have banned abortion and had those bans blocked by courts, and others have restricted how far into pregnancy people can access abortion. Our next generation of abortion providers program fulfills an important component of abortion access by providing hands-on training. A requisite of practicing autonomy over our reproductive lives is access to information and resources. The Longterm Birth Control Program reduces the cost of an IUD from $1,100 to $150 for an uninsured person.
One of our pilot Birth Justice Initiatives, the Doula Promotora Project is a collaboration with local Black-led birthworker organizations to help address perinatal health disparities by offering continued education to local Black doulas to better service Black pregnant and postpartum families in Arizona.
